Riverside Speedway News
2008 Schedule Comes Together……(newsletter issued February 29th) Race #1 Riverside International
Speedway will open its doors June 7, 2008
when the CARQUEST Maritime Pro Stock Tour Ron
MacGillivray Chevrolet 100 will come to town for round two on the tour
schedule. Joining them in June will be the Riverside Sportsman series. As in the
past, this event will be a Saturday night deal with rain date Sunday afternoon.
Ticket sales are expected to start some time late April early May. Race #2 The
next event will be July 18/19, The IWK 250 presented by DuPont & Steve Lewis Auto Body. This event in the past has been
a PASS race, however that will change for 2008. The 2008 edition will be
Maritime Pro Stock Sanctioned event. There will be some slight additions to the
rules for this event only to accommodate any outside cars that may want to run
this weekend. Plans are now underway to bring at least one current NASCAR driver
to run in the event. We have had a lot of interest from a few of the top runners
in the PASS series to come up and run as this is an off weekend for the PASS
North series. We are hopping to draw cars from the newly named New Brunswick
track, now Speedway 660. Negotiations are on going for them to take that night
off to allow for some of their pro stocks to come down. One of the biggest
purses will be offered to the more than 40 race teams we would expect to attend
this premier event of the summer.
(As of Feb 29th 39 teams have paid the pre registration fee).
Full details of the event will be posted on our web site and future newsletter
as they are finalized. For those planning to attend, a rough schedule is as
follows: Friday night a Sportsman show along with a second support class yet to
be named. There is also a chance we would have some kind of an open practice for
the Pro Stocks on Friday. Saturday would be all heat races, time trials and the
main event for the Pro Stocks. We are also working on a second support class to
run on Saturday also. Advance Tickets sales will be available starting late
April early May. Race #3 Aug 16th will see the return of the CARQUEST Maritime Pro Stocks for The Parts for Trucks 100 Lap event. It will be round 9 of the tour schedule. This event will also include our Riverside Sportsman series. Race
#4 Race #5 We will end the 2008 season on Sept 27 or Oct 5 with the Sportsman open plus and additional support class. This is the only event we are still trying to nail down at the time of this newsletter. Premium Seat
